Buying Books: You'll find the best deals in textbooks at Feds Used Books. There are thousands of books for all kinds of courses and you'll save at least 20% off the cost of new textbooks. Books are shelved alphabetically by author. We have a no refund policy, so make sure that the ISBN number of your book matches the one that you need for the course. To find which books you need, search using the UW BookLook service.
Selling Books: At Feds Used Books you can sell your textbooks on a 15% one year consignment basis. Consignment means that you do not get any money until your books have sold. You can leave your books with us for up to a year (plus a six-month grace period). After that time, if you haven't picked them up, your books will expire and become the property of Feds Used Books. If your books have not been sold by then, they will most likely never go back on the course list. Textbooks have an average life of two years; many of the books you used in first year will have no value by the beginning of your third year. So, don't let your books sit at home alone! Bring them in so they can be used and make you money!
Exporting Books: Feds Used Books will buy your current edition textbooks that are no longer in use by UW professors. We deal with companies in the US that supply books to colleges and universities. We can check if your book is being used anywhere in North America, and if it is, we will pay you cash and export it.
Old Editions: Books that are not acceptable for consignment or export are worth up to $10.00 at the discretion of the buyer. It is difficult to understand how you can pay up to $120.00 for a book, use it for one term, and then see it decrease in value to under $1.00. This is why you should bring in your textbooks for resale early and not hang on to them. Nothing decreases in value more quickly than a textbook. If you are thinking about keeping a textbook for reference only, think again! We may have similar sale books on our shelves that you can buy, and, most likely, your textbook will end up on the sale shelf one day, too.
Cheque Payout Policy: Cheques are printed monthly, check your account for dates. You need to request your cheque.Go to the "Accounts" page and follow instructions."Add me to the next cheque run". Cheques are valid for 6 months after they have been printed. Limit of one free reprint within the first six months. There is a fee of $35 for reprints after the initial six months, to be paid upfront. If your cheque is lost, stolen or misplaced there is no charge for a stop payment. Cheques that are between six and twelve months old can be reprinted if we have the original cheque. Stale dated cheques that are between six and twelve months can be reissued if we have the original. All cheques over twelve months old can not be reprinted.
Ways to Pick Up Your Cheque: There are three ways for you to get your check:
- You can come into the store and get it in person.Don't forget to bring some photo id!
- Have someone else pick up your cheque. In order to do that we need you to fill out the Book/Cheque Pick Up Form, sign it,and have the form brought in to the store by the person picking up your cheque. Photo Id must be presented by the person picking up your cheque.
